I have always loved fabrics. My 2 sisters and I learnt to sew and knit at a very early age after all it was the 70's when all clothes were hand made. We spent many holidays with our mother (an amazing dressmaker with the patience of a saint) pouring over Symplicity, Butterick and Vogue sewing pattern books deciding on dress patterns and fabrics. Then home to spend hours or days creating trendy outfits on our trusty Bernina sewing machine, ready to step out in style to the next "school social" or "Friday night in town". In 2002 I enrolled in Textile classes at Durack which took the word "Fabric" to a whole new level. My brilliant teacher introduced me to napthol, indigo, rust & tannic dying; wax resist & shibori; layering, printing, burnishing & manipulating fabric. Another exciting new creative door had opened .
